A new home for Lil Candle Store

Living in Michigan we sure have had our experiences with strange weather occurrences and this year is no exception with Michigan’s scorching temperatures blazing down. We forgot for a moment about the heat while we were searching for a new potential home for Lil Candle Store to display our products online. We found this fantastic new handmade site to do just that. Craft CafĂ© is now the new home of Lil Candle Store where we are proud to have our products listed there.

We finally found a web site that is dedicated to all handmade creations with friendly shop owners, an easy to set up cart, simple buying and browsing, plus lots of other features, too. Of course, it is unlike Etsy. Although we love to use Etsy, the price per listing has gone beyond what we wanted to pay. When you have over 80 different items to offer potential customers, it can be overwhelming when you receive the bill via email.

Why not stop by our shop today and come look at some fabulous, handmade, hand poured soy candles. We are now selling handmade polymer clay charms, necklaces and more at:

It's snowing Tips for living in a snowy state.

Living in Michigan for over 30+ years, you'll think that I would be use to seeing snow this time of year. If I were a child I wouldn't mind, but as I am getting older I am growing more tired of it. Luckily, I have my soaping and candle projects to keep me busy this time of year.

At least the winter is good for something. When you're dealing with your lye solution for cp or hp soap, that is Hot Process and Cold Process, it takes a while to cool down. It can reach up to 200 degrees. When it's cold like this outside, with a top on the container and a watchful eye, I like to set the lye water outside. It cools the lye water down fast!!  No more ice bath, we have snow and cold weather :0).

Winter has landed!

Winter has come. Well, at least it's cold enough to be considered winter, minus the snow. I am very surprised at this time of year the lack of snow Michigan is getting. It doesn't feel like Christmas at all. Apart from all the busy activities I have been doing this month, I have had the time recently to create some more soaps and candles. This time of year, I always seem to get bombarded with orders. This is a good thing! I'm not complaining. Here are a few soaps that I recently made:

This soap is scented with White Tea & Ginger fragrance oil per request from a customer. My soaps contain lots of moisturizing oils like Olive Oil, Shea and Cocoa Butters, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Palm Kernel Oil (for the hardness), and skin-safe mica's and glitter.

I was very happy with the way it turned out. I wish the bar of soap had been white, but I ran out of titanium dioxide.

This fragrance soaped very well. It didn't thicken or accelerate trace in anyway. It's consistency was very creamy.

Take Care....

Mad ramblings of a soaping woman, living in Michigan

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my blog. First of all, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. This year has past by so fast, it's hard to keep up with everything, and everyone. I have started this blog to share my ideas of soaping, candling, and other crafty things I make. I am constantly creating new goodies to share with all of my facebook and youtube subscribers.

Here, I will be adding photos of my cold process soap that I make. I won't go into recipe details of what is inside or how much of the ingredient is inside the soap itself. My recipes will not become public domain nor will my candle recipes. This is simply to display my ideas and hopefully you can run wild with them.
